The history of mobile phone
HISTORY OF MOBILE PHONES: Early Development: The origins of mobile phones can be traced back to the early 20th century, with the development of radio communication. In 1947, Bell Labs proposed a cellular network to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with the idea of using low-powered transmitters, called cells, to cover a larger area, allowing more efficient use of radio frequencies and multiple users to access the same frequency without interference. However, technological limitations at the time meant that this idea remained on hold until the 1970s. In 1973, Motorola engineer Martin Cooper made the first mobile phone call using a prototype device that weighed over two and a half pounds. The call was made to Joel Engel, the head of research at rival company AT&T Bell Labs. This marked the beginning of the mobile phone revolution, and by the early 1980s, mobile phones were becoming more widely available. First Generation Mobile Phones: The first commercially available mo
