Rohit Ranjan of Zee News was detained for airing a "doctored video" of Rahul Gandhi.
On Tuesday, July 5, the Noida Police detained Zee News presenter Rohit Ranjan in Ghaziabad after the channel aired reportedly false clips against Congressman Rahul Gandhi.At the Noida Sector-20 police station, a case had been made against Ranjan.
The Chhattisgarh Police had sent a team earlier in the day to arrest Ranjan at his home in the Indirapuram neighbourhood of Ghaziabad.
Ranjan has been charged with violating several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 153-A (Promoting Enmity on Grounds of Religion or Race), Section 295-A (Malicious Acts Intent to Hurt Religious Beliefs), Section 504 (Intentional Insult), and Section 505 (1)(b) [Intent to Cause Fear or Alarm to Public] as a result of a complaint made by Congress MLA Devendra Yadav.
